Spatial inspiration: a calm beauty cultivated by time

Unobtrusive and avoiding fleeting trends, the 104sqm Estella apartment was designed by TD architects as a mirror reflecting the homeowner's mature aesthetic taste—a taste nurtured by profound experiences and a deep understanding of beauty.

The design inspiration is evoked from quintessentially gentlemanly imagery: the time-worn patina of an aged leather item, the sharp sartorial lines of a bespoke suit, or the characteristic hushed serenity of a classic library. All these evocative nuances are skillfully translated by TD architects into the living space through an expressive language of materials and colors, creating an elegant, luxurious home with enduring vitality.

The art of color layering and the 70 - 30 - 10 golden ratio

Instead of relying on harsh, contrasting color schemes to create an instant visual shock, The Estella chooses to "tell its story" at a more deliberate pace through continuously transitioning color layers. TD architects applied the 70-30-10 golden ratio principle upon a foundation of warm palettes:

  • 70% Base Tones (Cream White, Beige): A neutral backdrop with luminous hues not only helps to visually expand the space but also brings a soft, soothing sensation that melts away everyday stress.
  • 30% Transitional Tones (Natural Wood, Terracotta): This second layer acts as a vital connector, establishing rhythm and breathing the warm essence of nature into the apartment.
  • 10% Sharp Accents (Deep Brown Leather, Gold Shimmer, and Marble Veining): The introduction of cloudy marble and premium brown leather provides just the right amount of contrast. Each color layer does not stand alone; rather, they are intricately bound together through surface textures and lighting, forming an overall composition with profound depth and an incredibly refined emotional rhythm.

Open-plan zoning: the solution from material language

Embracing an open-plan orientation, TD architects introduced a remarkably smart spatial solution: selecting two distinct types of flooring materials to completely replace mechanical partitions between the living room, kitchen, and foyer.

This "soft zoning" approach clearly delineates each functional area without disrupting the seamlessness and airiness of the overall design:

  • Warm wooden floors: Applied to the living and dining areas, these floors offer a gentle touch underfoot and foster a cozy atmosphere for gathering.
  • Refined patterned tiles: Utilized in the entryway and kitchen to enhance functional recognition while effortlessly meeting the high demands for durability and stain resistance in heavy-traffic zones.

The true success of this method lies in the design team's masterful control over proportion and material harmony. When earthy browns, soft creams, and stone veins blend seamlessly, the materials naturally choreograph a rhythmic transition for both the eye and the emotions as one moves through the home.
